Oswashane Fletcher "Shane the Visionary"

Founder & CEO, Barber

Being a barber is about taking care of the people. – Anthony Hamilton

The above quote is one of my favorites, as it applies to my passion and candidly summarizes why I value what I do. I love to serve others just as much as I'm driven for success. I was drawn to the art of barbering at the age of 14. It all started when my older brother came home highly disappointed and upset with a very bad fade-haircut that a Barber gave him. In my brother’s own words, “Look. The Barber jacked my hair up!” I had no experience with fade haircuts. The only haircut I had ever done before was a one level haircut, all around. However, I saw how upset and desperate my brother was, and I wanted to help. So, I suggested to him that he allow me a chance at fixing the haircut. With a comb, a pair of scissors, a trimmer, and a memory bank with images of what I’d seen other barbers do, I gave it my best shot! At the end of it, my brother was so impressed; he told me that he had no need to go to a Barber ever again.

As I grew older, I continued on to cut my own hair to save money, and I cut other people’s hair, as a freelance Barber, to make money. It became a passion for me, as it was just another way that I could express my artistic abilities and also have an impact on society. So, after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Business Management, I then pursued a Florida Barber license, because opening a Barbershop was going to be my first business venture. Though an exceptional Barber, I remain humble and continue to search for new ways to increase growth.

My appreciation for Barbering, in a nutshell: "A Barber provides a necessary service to man. To some, a Barber is just someone who cuts people’s hair. For me, it’s much more than that. I consider Barbering to be a wonderful art form that continuously challenges me to learn new skills; Skills that give me the ability to produce specific looks that add to clients' confidence or allow them to further express their self-image. On an even deeper level, my experience as a Barber and business owner has created the demand to play many roles. These roles consist that of a therapist (a listening ear), a confidant, an advisor, a friend, and even a role model. I take pride in my profession. I never underestimate its importance, and the potential that it creates for me to make a positive impact on someone’s life.
